OPQIC & Ariadne Labs introduce TeamBirth, a care delivery innovation

We are pleased to introduce a three-year collaboration between the Oklahoma Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative (OPQIC) and Ariadne Labs supported by the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH). This initiative will engage providers in a statewide effort to ensure every person giving birth has the role they want in their own care and explore opportunities to reduce inequities in childbirth. We will achieve these aims by implementing TeamBirth, a care delivery innovation that uses structured communication and shared decision-making to enhance teamwork among people giving birth and those caring for them, across all birthing hospitals in Oklahoma. TeamBirth has been tested in a registered clinical trial and has been implemented by hundreds of clinicians serving tens of thousands of families at community hospitals on both coasts and in the heartland of the United States, including Saint Francis Hospital, Hillcrest Medical Center, and OSU Medical Center in Tulsa.

If you want to learn more about TeamBirth, Ariadne Labs and OPQIC will be hosting an informational webinar on July 19 from 2-3pm or July 21 at 11am-12pm (Register here).  We highly encourage someone from your team to attend one of these webinars or watch the recording when available.

The Oklahoma TeamBirth initiative is supported by the State Maternal Health Innovation Program Grant, Maternal and Child Health Bureau, Health Resources and Services Administration, Department of Health and Human Services.
