Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy affect up to 8% of pregnancies globally and account for a significant number of maternal deaths worldwide [1]. The incidence of preeclampsia has also risen by 25% over the past two decades, resulting in considerably more pregnant patients presenting with severe hypertension in pregnancy [1].
