Rose Horton, MSM, RNC-OB, NEA-BC, FAAN Rose L. Horton is the Founder & CEO of NotOnMyWatch Consulting Partners, an LLC she created 3 years after coining the hashtag #notonmywatch. In this role she provides consulting for healthcare organizations, keynotes and teams training. She created the hashtag out of frustration at the rising rate of maternal & infant morbidity and mortality. As an executive nurse leader, she believes that nurses, as the largest healthcare employee contingent, have the power to change the trajectory of morbidity and mortality. The hashtag is a call to action for all nurses to use their collective voices to support, listen to, advocate for, and follow evidence-based practices in caring for all birthing people. Rose was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) in October 2022, nursing’s highest honor. She serves as the 2025 President of the Association of Women’s Health Obstetrics & Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), a 25,000-nurse member association that is pivotal in creating, supporting, legislating, researching best practices, and evidence-based care of women and newborns. Rose also serves on the Board of Directors for Healthy Birth Day Inc, as well as the Scientific and Clinical Advisory Board for Medela, and on the Executive Committee for the National Network of Perinatal Quality Collaboratives. Rose is the Executive Director Maternal Health of Huggies Healthcare.Stella Dantas, MD, FACOG Stella Dantas is the 75th president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is an obstetrician–gynecologist and medical director of graduate and undergraduate medical education with Northwest Permanente, where she has held leadership roles across clinical operations, quality assurance, residency education, and specialty care.
Dr. Dantas received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California Berkeley, her medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University, and completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Hawaii.
She has a long history of service within ACOG at the section, district, and national levels, including roles as Oregon Section chair, District VIII chair, and chair of the Council of District Chairs. She has contributed to numerous ACOG committees focused on patient safety, practice management, government affairs, professional liability, and governance.
A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Dantas has earned multiple teaching awards from OHSU and Northwest Permanente, as well as ACOG’s Mentor of the Year Award and the District VIII Outstanding District Service Award.Amy Vasko, CNM Amy Vasko is a Certified Nurse Midwife and maternal-health leader dedicated to expanding women’s healthcare in rural Oklahoma. A graduate of the University of Tennessee and Wayne State University, she brings experience from leading systems such as Henry Ford Health System, Rush University Medical Center, and the Medical University of South Carolina. At Newman Memorial Hospital, she has extended prenatal care to 26 weeks, opened two rural prenatal sites, and built comprehensive women’s health services. She created emergency-birth protocols for the Emergency Department, is implementing full lactation consulting, and helped Newman earn selection as one of only ten rural Oklahoma hospitals for the AIM-HI Baby-Friendly Initiative. Through her leadership of the Maternal and Infant Health grant, Amy is expanding transportation, childbirth education, parenting classes, and maternal-mental-health support across northwest Oklahoma. She also established Newman as an Oklahoma Milk Bank donor site to strengthen breastfeeding support. Statewide, Amy advocates for integrating Certified Nurse Midwives into hospital systems to expand the workforce, reduce provider shortages, and improve outcomes for mothers and babies. She supports CNM-inclusive models at Newman and Weatherford and collaborates with hospitals, state partners, and professional organizations to advance sustainable midwifery care in rural communities.Trent E. Tipple, MD, Trent Tipple is a Professor and Chief of the Section of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where he also holds the Children’s Health Foundation Reba McEntire Endowed Chair in Neonatology. He serves as an Adjunct Professor of Nutrition Physiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. A physician-scientist with nearly two decades of experience in redox biology, Dr. Tipple investigates how redox-mediated molecular events influence lung injury and repair, with the goal of advancing strategies to predict or prevent bronchopulmonary dysplasia in premature infants. His work centers on thioredoxin signaling, oxidant lung injury, and the impact of selenium and selenoprotein synthesis on lung development. Dr. Tipple is a dedicated mentor whose program supports both clinician and non-clinician trainees. His contributions have been recognized with several national honors, including the Cassady Presidential Young Investigator Award from the Perinatal Research Society and the Outstanding Early Career Investigator Award from the American Thoracic Society Foundation.Ulana Pogribna, MD, MPH Ulana Pogribna is an Assistant Professor and the Neonatal Quality and Patient Safety Officer for the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital NICU. A clinical neonatologist, she focuses on improving patient outcomes through quality and process improvement, with particular interests in clinical guideline development, evidence-based practice, and initiatives that enhance both short and long-term outcomes for infants. Dr. Pogribna earned her MD and MPH from Tulane University, followed by pediatric residency and neonatology fellowship training at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston. She is board certified in General Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Her early achievements include multiple merit scholarships at Tulane University. Today she continues to advance neonatal care across Oklahoma through her leadership in quality and safety initiatives.Birju Shah, MD, MPH, MBA Birju Shah is an Associate Professor and the Director of Clinical and Translational Research in the Section of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. A board-certified neonatologist, his work centers on neonatal resuscitation and advancing clinical research that improves outcomes for vulnerable infants. Dr. Shah completed medical training at Gujarat University and internship in the Ahmedabad Municipal Affiliated Hospitals before earning graduate training in quantitative methods from the Rutgers School of Public Health and strategic healthcare administration from Rutgers Business School. He completed his pediatric residency at St. Peter’s University Children’s Hospital and his neonatology fellowship at Brown University’s Women and Infants Hospital. His contributions have earned national and regional recognition, including Regional Top Doctor by Castle Connolly, Outstanding Teacher at the University of Oklahoma, a Clinical Research Award from the Society for Pediatric Research, and a Community Access to Child Health Grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics.Haider Abdulameer Ailumerab, MD Haider Abdulameer Ailumerab, MD, is a neonatologist at OU Children’s Hospital, where he cares for premature and critically ill newborns in one of Oklahoma’s leading neonatal programs. With extensive training in high-acuity neonatal care, he is committed to advancing outcomes for the most vulnerable infants through skilled clinical practice, evidence-based medicine, and compassionate family support. Dr. Ailumerab completed medical school at the University of Al-Mustansiriyah College of Medicine, followed by residency training with the Iraqi Board for Medical Specializations and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk. He completed additional fellowship training at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. His clinical experience includes managing complex neonatal conditions and providing advanced therapies such as therapeutic hypothermia and ECMO. Dedicated to family-centered care, Dr. Ailumerab partners closely with parents throughout hospitalization and works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure infants receive comprehensive, developmentally supportive treatment.Lucas Hooks, DO Lucas Hooks is a Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellow at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He completed medical school at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine Carolinas Campus and pediatric residency training at the University of Oklahoma–Tulsa School of Community Medicine, where he was recognized as the Outstanding Resident in Inpatient Medicine in 2025. Dr. Hooks’ clinical and research interests include palliative care and congenital heart disease, with a focus on supporting families through complex neonatal conditions. In addition to his clinical work, he contributes to the academic mission of the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine section through continued learning, research engagement, and collaboration.Karman Low, MD Karman Low is an Assistant Professor in the Section of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. As a clinical neonatologist, Dr. Low provides specialized care for critically ill and premature infants in the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital NICU and contributes to the education of pediatric and neonatal trainees. Her academic interests include advancing evidence-based neonatal care and supporting quality improvement efforts that enhance outcomes for newborns and their families. Dr. Low practices at OUHSC’s main campus in Oklahoma City, where she is part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality neonatal care and fostering a collaborative learning environment.Jessica Greenwood, MD Jessica Greenwood is the Chief Fellow in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. She earned her M.D. from St. George’s University and completed her pediatric residency at Memorial Health in Savannah. Her clinical interests include neonatal palliative medicine, with a focus on supporting families through transitions to comfort-centered care. Dr. Greenwood is recognized for her commitment to clinical excellence, compassionate practice, and advancing the quality of care for the most vulnerable patients.Sarah Samples, B.S. Sarah Samples is the Training and Outreach Manager for the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office, where she leads statewide efforts to strengthen awareness, prevention, and trauma-informed response to human trafficking and victimization. She brings more than a decade of experience supporting crime victims, providing advocacy during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Before joining the Attorney General’s Office, Sarah served as a victim advocate and later as a training program manager, developing and delivering education for professionals across government and community sectors. Earlier in her career, she worked as a juvenile probation officer, where she witnessed the resilience of young people and the transformative impact of having even one trusted adult who believes in them. Sarah’s commitment to this work is rooted in her own lived experience as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. Her personal journey fuels her unwavering dedication to creating safety, healing, and hope for others. She often shares that “we are the scars we choose,” and she has chosen to let hers strengthen her resolve to advocate for survivors and empower those who serve them.Sara Gadd, M.A. Sara Gadd is the Human Trafficking Program Manager for Ascension St. John, where she leads the system’s Human Trafficking Education and Response Program. She trains associates on trauma-informed identification and response protocols and collaborates with law enforcement, social service agencies, and statewide partners to advance prevention, education, and advocacy efforts. Sara co-chairs the Oklahoma Coalition Against Human Trafficking and serves on multiple task forces focused on policy and prevention. She is also a published author of teen-focused trafficking prevention books. Before joining St. John, Sara spent 13 years with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, representing the agency nationally as a certified trainer on trafficking awareness. She also supported homeland security initiatives and earned her Crime and Intelligence Analyst certification.
